Wonder what to get your dad's this fathers day? I have the answer in a book called, Dadditude.
Now, most guys might chuckle and push it aside...cause if they are anything like my hubby...they either (a.) would rather have it on audio book (in this case, you can just read it to them) or (b.) wait until your not looking - and explore the book.
But after reading a few pages, they are guaranteed to be drawn-in.
You see Dadditude, written by Philip Lerman is not just a story about a man's journey in becoming a dad...it is about the attitude that men endure while becoming a dad. As Phil says, "Dadditude is an attitude. It's that middle ground between trying to be in control of everything, and learning to embrace the natural chaos that comes with having children."
And how is it different from all those other self-help books that women love to obsess over? (yes, I am guilty too!) Because those authors don't sing Bob Dylan lyrics, have a witty sense of humor, or have produced America's biggest macho tv show - America's Most Wanted.
This book isn't just for the guys, as a mom I really enjoyed it...accept the part about the cavemen gene...but in retrospect, it is somewhat true!
In the book, Phil shares his struggles on raising a lunatic three-year-old, who only wants a "red" cup and to race from the kitchen to the living room! And as parents, we can relate with the struggles and laugh as Phil finds the humor in it all.
Ok, so I don't want to give away all of the book, because you need to check out Dadditude for yourself --- especially for those dads out there who need something to help them put fatherhood into perspective.
I was not paid to review this book.
